Fruit of the Spirit

Galatians 5:22-23 NASB1995

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law."

Just as much as the fruit that is produced from a fruit bearing tree, I have a natural ability to produce fruit myself. I say "natural" as it comes naturally to me. There's no sound of strain or effort in the orchard when spring comes around. The trees bear their fruit with ease, as do I. The fruit I speak of is found in my intentions, words, actions, and habits and they look nothing like what is mentioned in the verses above. The fruit that comes naturally to me is mentioned in the verses just prior to these, hence the "but". The deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, and the list goes on.

So then, if my natural ability is to produce such wretched fruit that would disqualify me, what am I to do to produce good fruit? A natural man produces sin, while the Super Natural stands in contrast to the flesh, producing the fruit of the Spirit. The fruit of the Spirit is an all-encompassing product of walking in the Spirit. Be filled with the Holy Spirit, (Eph. 5:18) Walk in the Spirit, and you WILL NOT carry out the desire of the flesh (Gal 5:16). Stop relying on this world, your own efforts, and what is natural and be filled with the Super Natural, the Holy Spirit, and be transformed, ready for every good work.
